South Zone Inter-University Cricket Tournament 2019: Exciting win for Gulbarga University

Helped by a valuable knock of 41 (5×4) by Y. Kedarnath Nagaraj and good bowling by Sheethal Kumar (four for 19), Gulbarga University, Kalaburagi, registered an exciting one-wicket win over Vikrama Simhapuri University, Nellore and entered the second round in the South Zone Inter University Cricket Tournament for Men 2019-20, conducted by University of Mysore (UoM) at the Manasagangothri Grounds here on Thursday.

Batting first, Vikrama Simhapuri University scored 150 in 24.5 overs. Farhad Khadri top scored with 62 runs. Sheetal Kumar impressed for Gulbarga University by taking four for 19.

In reply, a valuable knock of 41 by Kedarnath Nagaraj enabled Gulbarga University to score 151 for nine in 24.4 overs and register an exciting one-wicket win. Farhad Khadri and Sai Swaroop took two wickets each for Vikrama Simhapuri University, Nellore.

In the other first round matches, RGUHS, Bengaluru, Cochin University of Science & Technology, Kochi, Bharathiar University, Kuvempu University and Madurai Kamaraj University, TNPE & Sports University, Chennai, Annamalai University, Chidambaram, JNTU, Kakinada, Sri Venkateshwara University, Tirupathi and University of Kerala, Trivandrum, registered good wins over their respective rivals and entered the second round.
