Defeats World No.1 Jannik Sinner in longest final
Paris: Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz once again showed his dominating side and clinched the French Open 2025, men’s singles final against Jannik Sinner on Sunday.
After losing the first two sets, Alcaraz showed a brilliant comeback and clinched a terrific win. The scoreline of the final match was 4-6, 6-7, 6-4, 7-6, 7-6 in favour of Alcaraz.
Sinner squandered three championship points before being taken to the limit in a French Open final record time of 5 hrs 29 mins. It broke the record of the 1982 final match between Wilander and Vilas, which lasted 4 hrs and 42 minutes.

Italian duo win women’s doubles
Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini won the French Open women’s doubles title on Sunday, on the same court they clinched gold at last year’s Paris Olympics. The Italian pair beat Kazakhstan’s Anna Danilina and Aleksandra Krunic of Serbia 6-4, 2-6, 6-1 for their first Grand Slam title together. Errani and Paolini finished runners-up at Roland Garros a year ago, when Paolini was also a losing finalist in the women’s singles. The 38-year-old Errani added the women’s doubles crown to the mixed title she won alongside compatriot Andrea Vavassori on Thursday.
It was her sixth women’s doubles triumph, having already completed a career Grand Slam.
