Sreenivasa Prasad rues political class craze for Homa-Havanas

December 10, 2018

Mysuru:  Regretting that people representatives, instead of serving the people, were busily engaged in performing homa-havanas, senior BJP leader and former Minister V. Sreenivasa Prasad said that he was deeply pained by such attitude of politicians.

He was speaking after inaugurating a seminar on “Constitutional Aspirations and India”,  organised by Mysore Ratna Samskruthika Prathishtana in association with Karnataka Vikasa Vahini, as part of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Mahaparinirvana Divas at the Institution of Engineers on JLB Road here recently.

Bemoaning that caste system is being very widely encouraged ever today, Prasad observed that our society was going mad about the caste system.

Recalling that 12th century social reformer Basavanna has propagated that ‘Kayakave Kailasa’ (Work is Worship), he  said that the political class was now working exactly in the opposite direction.

Stating that Buddha, Basavanna and Dr. Ambedkar had propagated humanity, he said that the three were ‘Ratnas’ who are a model to the entire world.

Pointing out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has often said that our Constitution is the best in the world, Prasad emphasized on the need for following the Constitution scripted by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in order to further strengthen our democratic setup.

Writer P.M. Manoj’s work titled ‘Kasanova’ and senior writer Poorigali Maradeshamurthy’s work titled ‘Sakshigudda’ were released on the occasion.

Also, activist Dr. Yamadur Siddaraju, farmer leader M.S. Rajendra, APMC Vice-President Chikka Javarappa, Betel farmer activist Kumar and Adivasi leader Hemmige Harsha were conferred ‘Kayaka’ award on the occasion.

Retired Principal Prof. H.R. Siddegowda, DEED’S S. Srikanth, District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President M. Chandrashekar, K.M. Nagaraj and others were present.
