‘Sri Mahadeshwaraya Namaha’ Japa Yajna for World Peace

18-day ritual to begin from Mahadeshwara Temple in Kumbarakoppal tomorrow

Mysore/Mysuru: Male Mahadeshwara Jayanthi Mahotsava Samiti Working President and former MLC D. Madegowda has said that 18-day ‘Sri Mahadeshwaraya Namaha’ Japa Yajna series has been organised at various places starting from tomorrow (May 16) where 1 crore Japa Yajna will be performed each day till June 2.

In all, 18 crore ‘Sri Mahadeshwaraya Namaha’ Japa Yajna will be performed praying for Loka Kalyana and World Peace.

Announcing this at a press meet at Pathrakartara Bhavan in city yesterday, Madegowda said that Male Mahadeshwara Jayanthi Samiti, Kumbarakoppalu Abhyudaya Sangha, Mysuru Jilla Veerashaiva Mahasabha, Sri Guru Raghavendra Aradhana Samiti have jointly organised the first ‘Japa Yajna’ in the series at Mahadeshwara Temple in Kumbarakoppal tomorrow from 6 pm to 9 pm.

Those willing to take part in the Yajna should wear traditional dress and carry a clay lamp, cotton (batti), puja oil, Arishina-Kumkuma and flowers, informed Madegowda.

“For the first time such an event is being organised. One crore ‘Japa Yajna’ will be performed each day at the 18 places where Lord Mahadeshwaraswamy walked through and the last 18th crore ‘Japa Yajna’ will be performed at Male Mahadeshwara Hills to culminate this religious programme,” he added.

Madegowda further said that Male Mahadeshwara Hills is a tourist spot as well as a religious place and all the 77 hills should be developed for safari. “The tribals living in the region are not getting basic facilities like power, hospital, house and schools and colleges and I appeal to Chief Minister and Muzarai Minister to initiate development works in the region,” he concluded. Sri Male Mahadeshwara Jayanthi Mahotsava Samiti Vice-President Prabhuswamy, Murali, Deshapande, Byrappa and others were present.
