Mysuru: The Divisional Office of Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (KSCPCR) was opened at Room No. 21 in Ground Floor at Deputy Commissioner’s Office here this morning by KSCPCR Chairman Dr. Sebastian Anthony.

Speaking on the occasion, he disclosed that the Divisional Office is the first one and added that five more would be opened soon in Shivamogga, Ballari, Raichur, Dharwad and Belagavi as a measure to decentralise the operations. He said that the Mysuru Office would cover Mysuru, Mandya, Chamarajanagar, Kodagu, Hassan and Ramanagar. 

He opined that the decentralisation would help solve cases pertaining to children faster  — be it child marriage, harassment of children and Right To Education (RTE) Act. He disclosed that 2,000 cases of violation of Child Rights were pending in the State, out of which in 60 percent, hearing has been completed. He added that problems of Ashram Schools too would be covered now. The coverage is extended to heavy school bags and child beggary, he said.

A few pending cases were scrutinised on the occasion.
