A State-level Convention of Pourakarmikas will be held at the Palace Grounds in Bengaluru at 11 am on Apr. 3.
Announcing this at a press meet here, Karnataka State City Corporations, CMCs and TMCs Pourakarmika Mahasangha State President Narayana, who is also a former Mysuru Mayor, said that the Sangha is celebrating its Silver Jubilee this year and as part of it, a mega convention of Pourakarmikas is being held at Bengaluru.
Pointing out that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the convention at 11 am on that day, he said that Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar will preside, while Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwar will pay floral tributes to the portrait of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
A host of State Cabinet Ministers will also be attending the event, he said adding that the CM, Dy.CM and other Ministers will be felicitated for regularisation of service of 29,000 Pourakarmikas by abolishing the contractual appointment system.
Mahasangha office-bearers R. Shivanna, R. Das, artist S. Nagaraj, Yathiraj and Vijay were present at the press meet.
