15 for Ekalavya Award, 14 for Kreeda Ratna, 10 –  Sports Promoters and 2 – Lifetime Achievement Award

Bengaluru: The following have been selected for the Sports Awards given by the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports (DYES), Government of Karnataka, for 2020-2021:

Ekalavya Award: K.S. Jeevan (athletics), Nitin (netball), Ashwini Bhat (badminton), G. Tarun Krishnaprasad (rowing), Lopamudra Thimmaiah (basketball),  S.P. Likith (swimming), Karun Nair (cricket), Anargya Manjunath (table tennis), Danamma Chichakhandi (cycling), Ashwal Rai (volleyball), M.N. Vasundhara (judo), Pradhan Somanna (hockey), Prashanth Kumar Rai (kabaddi), V. Radha (para athletics) and Muneer Basha (kho-kho).

Lifetime Achievement Award: G.V. Gaonkar (athletics) and Capt. Dilip Kumar (kayaking & canoeing).

Karnataka Kreeda Ratna: Pooja Gaali (atya patya), Kiran Kumar (ball badminton), Gopal Naik (kambala), K. Deeksha (kho-kho), Shivayogi Basappa Bagewadi (stone lifting), S. Pandappa Hosamani (sangrani stone lifting), Lakshmi Biredekar (wrestling), P. Gopalakrishna (yoga), Raghavendra Hondadakeri  (powerlifting), Sooraj Annikeri (wrestling), B.M. Shashank (para swimming), D. Nagaraju (yoga),  Shrivarshini (gymnastics) and Avinash Naik (judo).

Sports Promoters Award: SDM Educational Trust, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, RVCE, Hoodi Sports Club, Sri Bala Maruti Institution, Eminent Shooting Club, Balanjaneya Gymnasium, Basavanagudi Aquatic Centre, Padukone-Dravid Centre for Sports Excellence and PET, Mandya.

Youth Empowerment and Sports Minister K.C. Narayanagowda released the list of awardees at a press meet in Vikasa Soudha on Monday.

Stating that 151 persons had applied for Ekalavya Award, 53 for Karnataka Kreeda Ratna, 25 for Sports Promoter Award and 28 for Lifetime Achievement Award, the Minister said that 15 have been selected for Ekalavya Award, 14 for Kreeda Ratna, 10 for Sports Promoters Award and 2 persons have been selected for Lifetime Achievement Award by an expert committee after thorough verification.

Mentioning that the date of Award Ceremony will be finalised after discussing with the CM, he said that Ekalavya Award consists of a bronze statue of Ekalavya and Rs. 2 lakh cash, for Lifetime Achievement Award – Memento and Rs. 1 lakh cash; Kreeda Ratna – Memento and Rs. 1 lakh cash; Spots Promoters Award – Citation and Rs. 5 lakh cash.
