State U-17 Girls Chess Championship: Prasiddhi Bhat triumphs

Mysuru girl Prasiddhi Bhat, representing Mysuru in the Karnataka State U-17 Girls Chess Championship 2019-20 held at Bengaluru from Jan. 10 to 12, drew her eighth and final round game against Chaya C. Poojari and with 7 points from eight rounds clinched the title in the Tournament which                                             concluded yesterday.

Two players, Zoya Nazir and Chaya Poojari, tied with 5.5 points and based on their tie-break scores, secured the second and third places respectively.

Prasiddhi Bhat had wins over S. Chinmayee, Shanjula Senthil, Drishtee Ghosh, KGR Anagha, WCM A.N. Shefali and Dhrithi Murgod. She had draws against Bhagyashree Patil and Chaya Poojari.

Mandya’s WCM Shefali secured 5.5 points and secured the sixth place. Sharadhi Shastry of Mysuru with 5.5 points secured eleventh place in the final rankings. Mysuru sisters Dhatri Umesh (5 points-20th place) and Diya Umesh (3.5-37th place) fared well in the Championship.
