Streamline the parking at Town Hall premises

September 4, 2019

Sir,

The idea to park vehicles in the Town Hall premises is really helping the public, especially the tourists visiting the area in and around the Central Business District of Mysuru. But unfortunately entry and exit of the vehicles from the Town Hall is causing a perennial grid-lock on Ashoka Road.

With Dasara fast approaching and the commissioning of the multi-level parking facility at Town Hall still remaining a big question mark, thanks to the unholy nexus between the contractors, the bureaucrats and the politicians, it is better for the authorities concerned to streamline the parking at Town Hall premises at the earliest.

At present both the gates of Town Hall are used for both entry and exit. This is causing grid-locks not only on Ashoka Road but also at the pathways leading to the parking slots. Vehicles move in all directions in the Town Hall premises, causing panic to the motorists.

One gate — preferably the one opposite Sri Harsha Road — should be used as the entry point and the other gate closer to the Clock Tower should be used as the exit point. Also proper route markers should be fixed for easy navigation of vehicles to avoid confusion and collision while entering, parking and exiting.

In case of heavy traffic in both the directions, motorists can circumvent either Jayachamaraja Circle or Clock Tower Circle to avoid any grid locks and easily enter and exit from the Town Hall.
