SVEEP Committee holds Jatha

Mysuru: Continuing its non-stop campaign for enhancing poll percentage, the Mysuru district SVEEP Committee, in association with Zilla Panchayat and Apollo BGS Hospital, took out a rally (Jatha) in city this morning.

The rally was held under the theme “your vote is as precious as your health”. Hundreds of nursing students and BGS Apollo Hospital staff marched in the rally that commenced from BGS Apollo Hospital premises on Adichunchanagiri Road, Kuvempunagar.

The rally flagged off by ZP CEO K. Jyothi, passed through Cauvery School, A to Z Circle, Vijay Bank Circle and other main thoroughfares before culminating at the starting point.

Speaking on the occasion K. Jyothi said that it was everyone’s right and duty to exercise their franchise in a democracy.

Stressing on the importance of voting, she said that the SVEEP committee has been conducting regular programmes on creating voter awareness since Jan.25 when the National Voters Day was celebrated and added that the Committee would continue to hold such programmes to ensure maximum polling.

Marking the occasion, BGS Apollo Hospital announced a 20 percent discount on Health check up from Apr.18 to till Apr.30, to only those whose cast their votes and display their inked finger.

Apollo BGS Hospital Vice-President Bharateesh Reddy , Medical Superintendent Dr. Anjali Arun, Cardiologist Dr. Arun Srinivas and others were present.     

In another event, the SVEEP Committee in association with ZP, MCC and JSS Science and Technology University (JSS-STU), held an event in SJCE premises in Manasagangothri this morning in which over 2,000 students and staff were administered a oath on voting.

ZP CEO K. Jyothi, JSS Mahavidyapeetha Executive Secretary Dr.C.G. Betsurmath, JSS-STU VC Dr. B.G. Sangameshwara, Registrar Prof. K.S. Lokesh, SJCE Principal Dr.T.N.Nagabushan, MCC Commissioner Shilpa Nag and other officials were present.
