Take road safety measures, DC tells Departments

December 27, 2022

Mysore/Mysuru: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr. K.V. Rajendra has directed the respective Departments to take road safety measures for the smooth movement of traffic.

Presiding over a meeting at his Office yesterday, the DC said: “the black spots in the district must be identified and boards must be installed, along with the boards containing the information on locally available ambulances, clearly visible for the people. The warning boards with instructions on ongoing road works clearly visible for vehicular users and the road humps painted for the safety of riders. The reflectors must be installed along with barricades.”

The traffic rules must be effectively enforced and the road users must comply with the same, to curb the traffic-related grievances, which assume significance in road safety, added the DC.

In the case of road repairs, we should not rely on National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) only. Instead, we should take the assistance of Urban Development Authority as the local administrations hold responsibility of enforcing traffic rules to ensure that no riders meet with fatal or                                                   non-fatal accidents.

The Regional Transport Offices (RTOs), Police and PWD must jointly inspect the accident-prone spots and implement effective measures. A report should be submitted by holding a virtual meeting once in a fortnight and physical meeting once in a month, the DC instructed.

SP Seema Latkar, DCP (Crime and Traffic) Geetha Prasanna, PWD EE Raju, Regional Transport Commissioner and other District-level Officers were present.
