Talented Chess Player: Prasiddhi Bhat

Mysuru has been producing talented chess players from time to time who have gone on to represent the country in various events. Mysuru’s 11-year-old chess player Prasiddhi Bhat has done everyone proud with her feats in the State and National level Tournaments. Prasiddhi recently took part in the 44th National Women Challengers Chess Championships held at Mysore Sports Club in city from July 22 to 29 and won first prize in the Below 1300 rating category. She is our ‘Star This Week.’

Prasiddhi, a student of Acharya Vidyakula, Mysuru, is a product of the Mysore Chess Centre, Mysuru. Encouraged by her parents Rajendra Prasad Bhat and Shree Vani Bhat, and the Chess Centre, Prasiddhi has been performing well.

In the 44th National Women Challenger Chess Tournament, Prasiddhi (Rating 1096) increased her 118 rating points by securing 5.5 points from 11 rounds in the Tournament.

Prasiddhi had wins against Srivatsa (LIC), Vindya Sridhar (Kar), Kumari Priti (Bihar) and Gupta Niti (Mah). She had draws against Archi Agarwal (Del), Jigna Joshi (Guj) and against WCM Chinnam Vyshnavi (AP). Prasiddhi secured the 67th place overall, but won the first place in the Below 1300 rating category.

Prasiddhi, coached by Suresh and supported by M. Nagendra, earlier did well in the U-11 State Championships and clinched the title in the Karnataka State U-11 Championships held at Bengaluru in May 2016 with 7.5 points from 9 rounds. She had also secured 4th place with 5.5 points in the Karnataka State Women’s Chess Championships-2017 conducted by Mysore Chess Centre at Mall of Mysore recently.

She intends to work hard and under the guidance of her coaches and with able support from her parents and Mysore Chess Centre and UKCA, she aims to do well in the State and National level.
