Thank you CMC, Nanjangud

February 13, 2025

Sir,

Apropos the news item ‘Street Vending Food Zone Opens at Nanjangud’ (Star of Mysore, 6.2.2025), I welcome the City Municipal Council’s (CMC) action — though delayed — in relocating countless roadside eateries that had flourished along the entire stretch from 10th to 15th Cross on the ever-busy Rashtrapathi Road to the nearby nala deck.

However, some still remain on the parallel Mahatma Gandhi Shatabdi (MGS) Road, particularly near 19th Cross, close to Hullahalli Circle on the national higway, which is perpetually jam-packed with vehicles from all directions. It would be prudent for the CMC to shift them as well, once and for all, to ease traffic congestion. I also appeal to the CMC to install signage boards at the entrance of every crossroad on both Rashtrapathi Road and MGS Road. These boards, which existed decades ago, have disappeared over time and need to be reinstated.
