Thora landslide: Efforts to trace missing persons continue

Madikeri: On Varamahalakshmi festival day, the landslide in Thora village in Virajpet taluk brought down the Manipare hillock killing five persons and another five going missing.

The search for the missing persons has been on for the last ten days but in vain. Four excavators and over 50 personnel of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed for the search operation assisted by Police and Fire Brigade personnel.

The search was conducted  yesterday also for a distance of 1.5 km by excavating mud to a depth of 15 to 20 feet but to no avail. Only trees and vegetation washed away were found but not a human body.
