Mysuru: A five-day national-level training-cum-workshop on Testing & Evaluation and Item writing for School Teachers, Assistant Professors and Research Scholars of Telugu began at National Testing Service-India (NTS-I) of Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL), Mysuru, on Monday.
In his inaugural address, Prof. P.R. Dharmesh Fernandez, Professor-cum-Deputy Director, CIIL, presented an overview of the examination and evaluation system of India.
He emphasised that the necessary reforms are need of the hour. He asked the teachers and research scholars to make use of this opportunity to improve their own professional and academic skills, and also to disseminate the learning to the other stakeholders.
Dr. Pankaj Dwivedi, Officer In-charge of NTS-I, briefed about the objectives of the workshop and highlighted the importance of understanding of latest educational theories. He stressed on the proper assessment methods to know correct learning outcome.
Prof. Munirathnam Naidu, Project Director, Centre of Excellence for Studies in Classical Telugu (CESCT), CIIL, dwelling on the importance of having proper linguistic skills to understand any kind of literature, said that proper knowledge of language is the key factor to achieve success in any examination.
Dr. M. Narayana Reddy, JRP, NTS-I, CIIL compered the programme. Dr. R. Shakunthala, JRP, NTS-I, CIIL, proposed a vote of thanks.
All the academic, administrative and technical staff of NTS-I were present during the occasion.
About 30 participants from various Schools, Universities and Government First Grade Colleges of Southern States of India, who are engaged in teaching and research of Telugu, are participating in this training workshop.
