December 27, 2017

Hunsur: Hunsur Police have arrested two youths at the Bus Stand in the early morning on Dec.25 for assaulting a person with iron road and trying to flee from the town.

The arrested youths have been identified as 22-year-old Rafiq and 23-year-old Sadiq, residents of Lalbandh Street in the town.

It is alleged that the duo were teasing a school girl everyday when she was returning home and on Saturday last the duo held the girl’s hand and harassed her.

On learning this, the girl’s brother identified as Vishwa (son of a pani puri vendor residing in Shivajyothi Nagar in Hunsur), along with his friend Mahesh, questioned Rafiq which irked him. Rafiq, along with his friend Sadiq and others then assaulted Vishwa and Mahesh with iron rods injuring them seriously who have been admitted to a hospital with severe head injuries.

Hunsur Police, who registered a case in this regard, launched a hunt to nab the assaulters.

The Police team led by Circle Inspector Poovaiah and SI Puttaswamy searched for them in the town and finally found them at about 4.30 am in the Bus Stand waiting for a bus to flee from the town and succeeded in arresting them.

Additional SP Rudramuni, who visited the Police Station on Dec.25 morning, interrogated the two accused, during which the Police came to know that Rafiq had cases of thefts at various Police Stations.

Police produced the accused before a Magistrate, who has remanded them to Judicial custody.
