A two-day National Karate and Kobodu Tournament, organised by All India Karate-Do and Kobodu Promotion Foundation (AIKKPF) commemorating its 9th anniversary, being held at University of Mysore Sports Pavilion concludes today (Oct.20) with the valedictory at 4.30 pm.
Over 250 participants from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Goa are taking part in the tournament which is being conducted under the categories of children, sub-junior, junior and senior separately for men and women. Three prizes will be given in each category.
Inaugurating the tournament yesterday, University of Mysore Vice-Chancellor Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar opined that Karate was a good martial art for self-defence which had become very popular in India.
University of Mysore Visiting Professor M. Chandrakumar and Soshihan Faustin Nigli of Soke-Universal Karate India were the guests of honour. AIKKPF President Dr. S. Rethinam presided. University of Mysore Physical Education Director (in-charge) Dr. P. Krishnaiah and others were present during the inaugural.
