May 24, 2018

Mandya:  In separate incidents, two persons were killed after coming under moving trains here.

The deceased have been identified as Prashanth Gowda (25), son of B.M. Basavaraju, a native of Bevukal village in the taluk and Sunil (44), a resident of Shakthinagar in Beltangadi. While it is suspected that Prashanth may have committed suicide, Sunil is said to have come under the moving train under the influence of alcohol.

In the first incident, Prashanth, who had come from Bengaluru was found run over by a train near Induwalu on Tuesday night. His head was found separated from his body. It is yet to be known what time the incident occurred and which train had run over him.

Railway Police, who rushed to the spot, found an ID Card and a mobile phone in the pocket of the deceased and based on it the Railway Police were able to establish his identity.

It is learnt that Prashanth was working in a laboratory of a pharma company at Peenya in Bengaluru and was staying with his parents there.

Police have suspected that Prashanth may have committed suicide due to love failure or other reasons.

In the second incident, Sunil, a resident of Shakthinagar in Beltangadi taluk, had come to the house of one Kamalamma, his relative residing in Kallahalli in Mandya. On Tuesday afternoon, he was killed after coming under a moving train.

According to his (Sunil) wife Lakshmi, an Anganwadi worker and family members, Sunil was addicted to liquor. The Police have suspected that Sunil may have accidentally come under the moving train and was killed.
