Sir,
Mysuru looks more polluted than Bengaluru despite heavy traffic in the State capital due to two-stroke and mostly kerosene-run autos. Some parts of the city looks smoky.
For example, on Mahadevapura Road where there are too many autos, air quality has become very poor leading to cough and respiratory problems among the residents of Udayagiri and Shanthinagar. The District Administration has to run a pollution check in these areas and check for emission certificates of vehicles in these kinds of highly polluted areas.
District Administration has to run a ‘Cash the Crunker’ like scheme that was done in the US to reduce pollution to get rid of these autos. There would be opposition by the auto drivers and protests like in Bengaluru, but in the better interest of the city, they need to be educated on the ill-effects of these polluting autos and go for more eco-friendly four stroke LPG autos or even electric autos. The administration has to order RTO to stop registration of two stroke autos for a pollution-free city.
