Show-cause notice to be served on Prof. Mahadeva
Mysuru: The Academic Council Meeting of Mysore Varsity, which was chaired by Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dayananda Mane yesterday, has decided to serve a show-cause notice on English Professor Mahadeva, for questioning the decisions taken by the Academic Council.
Prof. Mahadeva, in a letter, had questioned the Council’s decision to permit St. Philomena’s College to provide exams for a few students who were pursuing MA in English.
The Council had allowed the College to give the students exams even though they were ineligible to get admission for MA in English as per the guidelines.
As the College had admitted the students even though they were ineligible, the Academic Council had permitted the College to give them examinations on certain conditions and had also warned the College to follow the rules in future.
The members of the Academic Council said that Prof. Mahadeva had defamed the Academic Council by questioning its decision and added that Prof. Mahadeva should have approached the VC for clarification, instead of writing to the Council, following which it was decided to serve Prof. Mahadeva with a show-cause notice. Meanwhile, Prof. Mahadeva said that there has been irregularities in this issue and those violating the University rules should be punished and the Mysore Varsity should cancel its affiliation to the College which has flouted the rules.
