UPOR & e-Khata: Property owners in a dilemma

Sir,

Way back in 2016, all property owners received notices to furnish their property details, like title deed, sale deed, tax paid receipt, Aadhaar, pan, owners photo etc. Hard copies were submitted to Urban Property Ownership Record (UPOR) Office under Revenue Department, Government of Karnataka.

They digitised the documents and issued a certificate showing property record and cadastral map, with a fresh plot number under UPOR: S29:XXXX. This certificate was 7 pages.

Now after around 8 years the Government is seeking the same documents to provide “e-Khata,” saying if any owner wants to sell the property he needs to have “e Khata”, as registration will not be carried out.

Many owners like me feel, when we are not selling our property in near future, why go for “ e-Khata”?

Considering our past experiences, after a few years another exercise will crop up. When will the Government allow citizens to live in peace?
