Varuna Lake to be developed to hold regular Adventure Sports

Mysuru: Dasara Water Sports was inaugurated by Minister for Youth Empowerment and Sports Pramod Madhwaraj at Varuna Lake on T. Narasipur Road this morning.

The water sports maintained by Gen. Thimmaiah Adventure Sports Academy include Jet Skiing (Rs. 300 per person), Banana Boat ride (Rs. 250), Speed Boat (Rs. 200) and Kayaking (Rs. 150). With a package ticket of Rs. 800, a person can participate in all the sports. The Academy has provided 25 trainers to assist the participants with ample life jackets. Speaking on the occasion, Madhwaraj said that the govt. had allocated Rs. 5 crore in the budget to develop Varuna Lake as a permanent location for adventure sports. He added that the project would be taken up under Public-Private Partnership scheme to provide a good infrastructure.

Additional Chief Secretary Rajnish Goel, Academy Manager Shabbir and others were present.
