Veerashaiva Mahasabha elections: Court orders recount of votes in two months

Mysore/Mysuru: A City Court has ordered recount of votes polled in the elections held  on July 21, 2024 for President and Director posts of Mysuru District Unit of Akhila Bharata Veerashaiva-Lingayat Mahasabha, within two months.

Varuna Mahesh, who had unsuccessfully contested for the District President’s post, had filed a petition (Petition No.1388/2024) in the 12th Additional JMFC Court of the city, seeking a recount of the votes polled. Varuna Mahesh, in his petition, had highlighted the lapses that had taken place during the polls and counting.

The Court, which heard his petition recently, ordered for a recount of votes, within two months. The Court also directed handing over of all ballot boxes and records to the jurisdiction of the Court. The recounting of votes will be monitored by the Court, it is learnt.
