Vishwamitra Pratibha Puraskar will be presented to meritorious Brahmin community students of Mysuru and Bengaluru divisions at a programme organised under the aegis of State-run Karnataka State Brahmin Development Board at Sarada Vilas Educational Institutions auditorium in Krishnamurthypuram here at 10.30 am on Dec.13.
Announcing this at a press meet, Board Chairman Asagodu Jaisimha said that Health Minister Dinesh Gundurao will inaugurate the programme. K.R. MLA T.S. Srivatsa will preside. Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda will distribute sanction letters to beneficiaries of Vipra (Brahmins) self-employment direct loan scheme. District in-charge Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa will present Pratibha Puraskar to nearly 100 students who scored high marks in SSLC.
MLAs G.T. Devegowda, Tanveer Sait and K. Harishgowda, MLC Dr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah, former MUDA Chairman H.V. Rajeev, District Brahmins Association President D.T. Prakash, Vipra Mahila Sangha President Dr. K.V. Lakshmidevi, Akhila Karnataka Brahmin Mahasabha Organising Secretary N. Srikanta Kumar and others will be present.
Jaisimha said that the Rs.10 crore grant given to the Board every year by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was being used to set up domestic industries for Brahmin community women. The State Congress Government has economically strengthened the Brahmin community through various schemes and grants, he said.
