Week-long National Integration Camp

Mysore/Mysuru: The National Service Scheme (NSS) Cell, Government of Karnataka, Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports (DYES) and University of Mysore (UoM) NSS have jointly organised a week-long National Integration Camp at UoM NSS Bhavan in Saraswathipuram here from Feb. 3 to Feb. 9.

Announcing this at a press meet held at Pathrakarthara Bhavan on Tuesday, UoM NSS Programme Co-ordinator Dr. M.B. Suresha said that State NSS Officer Prathap Lingaiah will inaugurate the camp on Feb. 3 at 11 am. UoM In-charge Vice-Chancellor Prof. H. Rajashekar will preside. UoM Registrar V.R. Shylaja will be the chief guest.

As many as 180 NSS volunteers and Programme Officers from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala will take part in the camp. Fancy dress, debate and skit contests will also be among various other activities. Participants will be taken out on a local tour on Feb. 5.

The following resource persons will deliver special lectures during the camp from 4 pm to 5.30 pm on all days:

Feb. 3 – International Trainer R.A. Chethanram will speak on ‘Personality Development’; Feb. 4 – Thinker Prof. Nataraj Huliyar on ‘Secularism’;  Feb. 6 – Tumakuru’s Ramakrishna Ashram President Swami Veereshananda Saraswathi Maharaj on ‘Youth and Swami Vivekananda’; Feb. 7 – Bengaluru’s Gandhi Bhavan President Nadoja Dr. Wooday P. Krishna on ‘Gandhian Thoughts’; Feb. 8 – UoM NSS Advisory Committee Member Prof. K.M. Veeraiah on ‘Importance of National Integration.’

Feb. 9 – K.V. Khadri Narasimhaiah, Regional Director, Regional Directorate of NSS, Government of India, Bengaluru, will deliver valedictory address at 11 am. Bengaluru’s Gandhi Bhavan Vice-President Prof. G.B. Shivaraju will be the chief guest. UoM Registrar V.R. Shylaja will preside.

UoM NSS Advisory Committee Member Prof. K.M. Veeraiah and UoM Evening College NSS Programme Officer Dr. Ningaraju were present at the press meet.
