The well-lit Rajendra Vilas could be seen even from Mandya!

July 9, 2017

Sir,

The article “Rajendra Vilas Palace atop Chamundi Hill – Dream Destination to get facelift”  (SOM dated July 6)  made an interesting reading. It is true, many visitors to the Hill temple never even think what that building was!

During my student days, a conference was arranged in this beautiful Palace which was admired by the participants very much. Mirrored walls, Royal mementos adorning vantage positions, stuffed animals of all sizes, were a treat to watch. It was a wonderful experience indeed!

After leaving Mysore to take up employment, I was visiting Mysore to be with my parents for just a couple of days. The magnificent Rajendra Vilas Palace well-lit and the hill-top with electric lighting all along could be seen from far off places, even beyond Mandya. That was the beauty of this place. Where are the lights gone?
