The Gaming Scene in Karnataka: all you need to know about casino games and more

Karnataka’s rich culture has always included traditional games. In Karnataka, a wide range of indoor, outdoor, and board games are popular. Both children and adults alike enjoy these classic games, and most people agree that entertainment would not be the same without these  games.

However, with the introduction of computers, mobile phones and consoles, the idea of what it means to play games has radically changed, in Karnataka and the rest of the country. Most traditional games are lost on city dwellers, but Karnataka residents still enjoy them.

The gaming scene in India is massive, and visitors will discover a plethora of gaming centres, table games, casinos, and gaming tournaments upon arrival.

Karnataka itself showcases some of the following traditional and non-traditional online and offline games.

Gaming In Karnataka

The FIFA Series

The FIFA franchise is a popular choice in Karnataka every year.

It is possibly the most popular console game in the whole world, not just in Karnataka. The most significant reason for its popularity in the country is the sport’s significant presence at both the club and international levels. The FIFA games allow gamers to choose from a broader range of teams to play.

There are so many teams from all the different countries competing, including the Premier League – home to many of Indian football fans’ favourite clubs.

Every year, the game’s developers make improvements to make the next edition better than the previous. And since the FIFA franchise includes the licencing process, it owns the rights to hundreds of teams and thousands of players – resulting in a constant influx of fresh players.
FIFA 21, the most recent instalment, features a lot of depth and great graphics. The promise of further improvement maintains its popularity in India, as well as the rest of the world.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy

The Uncharted series is a popular gaming franchise in India, because it allows players to explore the character of Nathan Drake. A key strength of these games, therefore, is the excellent story and character development across each game.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, the most recent instalment, follows Chloe Frazer, a favourite fan character, as she takes over as the primary protagonist. In this action-adventure game, the player controls her as she climbs monuments and solves riddles.

Chloe’s mission is to locate and capture Ganesh’s renowned tusk. The game is situated in India, making it a big selling point for any players from the country. Any changes to the scenery are primarily for amusement purposes, but creators Naughty Dog still managed to capture the essence of India.

It blends bustling markets with historic sites, resulting in a graphically detailed game to play.

WWE 2K Series

Professional wrestling is immensely popular in India, and WWE is a popular game among Indian gamers. Many players casually compete against their pals in this game, and choose their favourite wrestlers when competing against each other.

Recent WWE games, particularly those in the 2K series, include massive rosters with over 100 characters to pick from, providing gamers with a vast range of options. The simple battle game is a never-ending source of entertainment.

Indian superstars such as former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal have appeared in recent games, allowing gamers to select a fellow compatriot. Because of the beneficial impact professional wrestling has had in India, it is a game that will always be popular.

Prince of Persia: Warrior Within

During the mid-2000s, this was one of the top video game series. Players took control of a nameless Prince who had to battle his way through the story using magical abilities.

It was a game series aimed at gamers that enjoy combat. Warrior Within offers more action than The Sands of Time, which is arguably the better game.

Nevertheless, Warrior Within, with its darker toned game, is one of India’s most popular games.

Traditional Games in Karnataka

Chinni Dandu (Gilli Danda)

Gilli Danda is a popular outdoor game that is played throughout India and even South Asia.

In Kannada, it’s known as Chinni Dandu. Many European and American sports, such as cricket, baseball, and softball, are thought to have originated from this game. A stick (danda) and a peg (gilli), both made of wood, are used to play the game. It’s a team sport that necessitates the player’s hand-eye coordination and focus.

Buguri (Spinning the top)

Spinning the top, also known as Lattu, is a popular game in India and Pakistan. Buguri is the Kannada word for it. It’s an intriguing traditional game in which a wooden top spins. The lower half of the top has grooves, while the bottom has a nail to spin on. To make the spinner spin, you should knock the top, and in doing so, a string wraps around the grooves and off it goes.

Goti (Marbles)

Goti, also known as marbles, kancha, or goli, is a popular gully sport in India. In Kannada, it’s known as Goti. In this traditional game, the player must use their marble ball to hit the designated target, or marble. The winner of the match receives all of the other players’ marbles. This game necessitates the player’s ability to aim and concentrate.

Hand Wrestling

Hand wrestling is a popular sport among rural Karnataka residents. The game is played with one’s hands. Each player must tightly grasp the opponent’s hand under the wrist joint with both hands and fingers.

The game’s goal is to keep the opponent’s hand from being released from the player’s grasp. When it’s the other’s turn, the player must liberate their hand from the opponent’s grip.

These are only a handful of the thrilling traditional games used within Karnataka’s culture. Of course, many other games have played an essential role in Karnataka’s rich culture, however, nowadays, these games are becoming less and less part of people’s lives.

Sadly, the more traditional games are being traded in for the online games made famous by the western world.
