Mysore/Mysuru: Reacting to the gas pipeline project, former Mayor Ayub Khan told Star of Mysore this morning that there is an urgent need to discuss the pros and cons of the project and it was not right to implement the project without transparency, though it is claimed to be people-friendly.
“The disadvantages and advantages of the project must be discussed and it must be in the public domain. No one is asking for immediate implementation of the project and there is no tearing hurry. Now, gas is delivered to homes with a phone call or an SMS. Roads will be dug up for the project and who will pay for the repairs? Also, Rs. 7,000 has to be paid as a deposit apart from monthly charges and disconnection and reconnection charges. All these things must be discussed,” he demanded.
“There is a complete lack of information on the project and even the MLAs are not aware of the project implications and the aftermath. Unilateral attitude towards project implementation has caused confusion and there is no visibility. Also, there are many gas agencies that supply gas to Mysuru. What will happen to them and who will give them employment. There is an entire transport sector involved in the transportation of the LPG cylinders to homes. Who is speaking on the job loss,” he questioned.
A good question by past mayor Ayub Khan. Mysuru being a wide spread city requires criss cross of pipe lines to deliver piped gas. There are many locations where BPL residents reside. The piped gas will be very expensive for these settlement, which is not addressed. Even today when most of Mumbai city has piped gas in multistorey apartments, Gas agencies delivering LPG gas cylinders co exist. There is no compulsion for citizens to switch over to PNG. No agency have closed down. So will the agency in Mysuru. Once there is clarity on deposit, pricing for PNG, people will shun from using this facility.

Barmy Shenoy, the self-styled ;international oil expert’, who has written to PM Modi, has no time for the above. Remember this person claims he worked in countries like:’Ghana, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan” which are not democracies, and are ruled by corrupt dictators, and he wants PM Modi to do the same-ignore protests by Mysoreans and push this project through, because, he, Barmy Shenoy with his impressive credentials says so!
I bet PM Modi, an admirer of IT technology, has no time to reply someone who talks hot air about the gas pipe line, and has ignored his letter!
The LPG users should pool funds together and challenge this project in the High Court.

This should be addressed to the ‘international oil expert’ Bhamy Shenoy.
Shenoy who says he implemented the gas pipeline in Georgia to replace the LPG cylinder source, not ignoring the Taliban’s Afghanistan which he mentioned in his letter to the PM, will have a solution on the re-employment of those who lost jobs.

Just read what This Shenoy guy says: “I have been promoting as early as 1990s for giving greater role to gas sector like in many parts of the world. I had suggested liberalisation of gas prices, promotion of international gas pipelines like Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India, Myanmar-Bangladesh-India, Iran-Pakistan-India (despite the potential geo-political problems), promotion of LNG imports by establishing LNG terminals etc.”
One wonders, why he has picked Afghanistan. The Talibans are more interested in RPGs, AK-47s and other military items, and dressing up their women folk in Burkas and making them toil all day in the kitchen using firewood as the energy source!
That letter, I guess is an application for a job in this Mysuru project. Nothing short of the offer of the Project Director would do for him.
He willthen abolish all things LPG! As for the those who lose their jobs, Shenoy will point out to the Chamundi Hill Goddess!
