Why sound while on beat?

November 8, 2017

Sir,

Yesterday, I had to study a subject and had to stay awake till early morning! At around 2 am, I saw a Police jeep patrolling our area by making sound similar to an ambulance. I must thank those Policemen who are doing their job in the midnight-early morning hours to safeguard citizens. This act of Policemen is somewhat similar to soldiers patrolling our borders.

But I wondered why the Policemen are making noise and patrolling. I thought, due to this loud noise, the thieves, if trying to steal from a house can easily escape by hiding till the jeep passes by. Isn’t this an advance signal for thieves to get alerted and hide before the Police reach their hideout?

Hence, I request the Policemen to patrol the areas silently or at least without making loud noise so that they can create an ambush like situation, if they find anything suspicious during their beat.
