Woman commits suicide

Mysore/Mysuru: A 24-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging self at her residence at Ganesh Nagar in Udayagiri Police limits on Thursday.

The deceased is Kumari, wife of Mahesh, a resident of Ganesh Nagar. Kumari, a native of Koodlapura village in Nanjangud taluk, was given in marriage to Mahesh two years ago. The couple were leading a peaceful life initially, but later, their happy family life began to deteriorate due to differences in opinions and the village elders too had advised them. As the problems could not be solved, Kumari hanged herself at the house at about 2.30 pm on Thursday, it is learnt.    

Udayagiri in-Charge Inspector G.N. Srikanth and staff, who rushed to the spot, conducted mahazar. Meanwhile, deceased Kumari’s elder brother Nagesh, alleging that his sister has been murdered for dowry and was later hanged, has lodged a complaint at Udayagiri Police Station.

Udayagiri Police, based on the complaint from Nagesh, have registered a case and                                are investigating.
