Mysore/Mysuru: Dr. Pankaj Dwivedi, Officer-in-charge of National Testing Service-India (NTS-I), a scheme of the Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL), Mysuru, inaugurated the five-day Training-cum-Workshop on Testing and Evaluation and Item Writing in Kannada on Sept. 26.
NTS-I organised this workshop at CIIL, Mysuru, for the Teachers/Assistant Professors/Lecturers and Research Scholars of Kannada Language & Literature and Linguistics in various Schools, Colleges and Universities from across India.
Briefing about the workshop’s objectives, Dr. Pankaj Dwivedi said that linguistic skills are equally important to a teacher of language and literature who provides instructions on basic skills like listening, speaking, reading and writing. He said that NTS-I is striving to create awareness among the teaching community how to evaluate and judge anyone’s skill and proficiency objectively with state-of-the-art tools and techniques.
Dr. R. Shakunthala, Resource Person, NTS-I, welcomed and compered the inaugural session. K.K. Pradeepa, Resource Person-Kannada, proposed a vote of thanks.
The experts of the fields who were invited to deliver lectures are: Prof. A. Murigeppa, former Vice-Chancellor, Kannada University, Hampi; Prof. C. Naganna and Prof. Yashodhara, both formerly of University of Mysore (UoM); Prof. B.K. Ravindranath, HoD of Linguistics, KIKS, UoM; Prof. Pushpa, HoD of Education, UoM; Dr. Vinodha, Assistant Professor, MMK & SDM Women’s College, Mysuru.
Besides them NTS-I faculties namely Dr. R. Shakunthala, Dr. M. Manjunatha, K.K. Pradeepa and Technical Junior Resource Persons K.S. Raghavan and N. Kashyap trained the participants in various academic and technical sessions of this workshop.
Dr. Pankaj Dwivedi coordinated this workshop. Prof. Shailendra Mohan, Director, CIIL, Mysuru was the overall patron of this workshop.
