Periyapatna:  A 21-year-old, reportedly committed suicide by jumping into Lakshmanatheertha River last evening.

The deceased is Krishna, son of Nanjundegowda and a resident of Tatanahalli in the taluk.

Krishna, who left his house, arrived at Hunsur in a bus and called his home over his phone and informed them that he was jumping into the river. His family members are said to have immediately informed a relative identified as Keerthi, who was staying at Rammenahalli in Hunsur. But before Keerthi could reach the spot, Karishna is said to have jumped into the river and ended his life. SI Mahesh, ASIs Papegowda and Shekar and staff Thammanna rushed to the spot and efforts are being made to fish out the body of Krishna.
