May 5, 2020

Pandavapura: A 23-year-old youth, who had gone for a swim in Visvesvaraya Canal near Shambhunahalli village in the taluk on Friday morning, has been drowned.

The deceased is S.V. Vinaykumar, the only son of late S.K. Venkatesh and Padma and a resident of Shambunahalli.

Vinaykumar along with four others went to the canal for a swim on May 1 morning. Though the others tried to rescue him, their efforts went in vain. As the body could not be traced, the officials of Cauvery Neeravari Nigam stopped the water to the canal and the body was fished out at about 10.45 pm.

The body was shifted to Pandavapura General Hospital, where post-mortem was conducted and the body was handed over to the family members on May 2. Pandavapura Police have registered a case.
