U.M. Shanthappa (93), a senior freedom fighter and a resident of Aishwarya Nagar near Kuvempunagar ‘N’ Block, passed away yesterday in city. He had served as Janata Party Krishnaraja Block President. He leaves behind son U.S. Mahesh, proprietor of Roopa Prakashana, three daughters, daughter-in-law, sons-in-law, grand-children and a host of relatives and friends. Last rites…

The city-based Hoysala Karnataka Sangha Director S. Ranganath has been appointed as the Joint Secretary of Bengaluru-based Akhila Karnataka Brahmana Mahasabha. The appointment has been made by the Mahasabha State President S. Raghunath. Ranganath, a social worker and active Director of Hoysala Karnataka Sangha,  was awarded the Mysuru District Kannada Rajyotsava award in 2024.
