259 sites prepare for Mock Security Drills across country; three in Karnataka

May 7, 2025

New Delhi: Authorities in Delhi will carry out Mock Security Drills at a total of 259 locations in the country including 55 locations in Delhi, later in the day today. The sites identified for the security drill in Delhi include Connaught Place, Khan Market and Chandni Chowk, to check the preparedness of security agencies, in view of the possible war between India and Pakistan.

The drills come in the aftermath of ‘Operation Sindoor’ carried out by the Indian armed forces early Wednesday, in retaliation against Apr. 22 Pahalgam terror attack, that claimed the lives of 25 Indians and one Nepali.

The three sites in Karnataka identified for the security drill are Bengaluru (urban),                               Malleshwara and Raichur, listed as Category 2.

The Indian armed forces on early Wednesday carried out missile strikes on nine terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK).

“The drills will be conducted at 4 pm at 55 locations of Delhi — five in each revenue district. We have held meetings with stakeholders over their conduct,” the officials said.

The drills will simulate multiple hostile scenarios like air raids, multiple fire emergencies and search and rescue operations, among others. Sirens will be sounded by Police teams across the 15 Police districts in the city as part of the exercise.

Jharkhand Police spokesperson and IG (Operations) Amol V. Homkar confirmed the coordinated effort, noting that, “The exercise will be conducted at designated places identified by the district administrations. During the exercises, some emergency situations will be simulated and the preparedness of various agencies such as civil defence, Police, fire services, medical teams and the public to handle such situations will be studied.”

The main objective of the drills is to enhance coordination among key emergency response agencies, reduce response time in crises and raise public awareness about disaster management protocols.
