43 Primary School teachers get promotion to High School

July 7, 2018

Mysuru: Several eligible Primary School teachers who were waiting for years for promotion, are now a relieved lot as the Department of Public Instruction has finally promoted them to teach in High Schools.

DDPI (Dy. Director of Public Instruction) Mamatha conducted a counselling session at her office to the teachers yesterday and the Primary School teachers who had B.Ed degree and promoted to High School were given order copies.

In all there are 119 vacant posts of High School teachers in Mysuru District. 43 were given promotion to High School, out of whom 22 were posted to teach Kannada, 3 in Science (PCM), 9 (CBZ), 6 Hindi and 3 Physical Education teachers totalling  43, said Mamatha speaking to Star of Mysore.

There is a provision to fill 50 per cent of the posts in rural Government High Schools through promotions and the remaining can be filled by appointing guest teachers. Similarly, the Government has to issue a notification to fill the vacant teachers post in Primary Schools, she said.

Reacting to the promotion, Mysuru District High School Teachers Association President C.B. Arun Kumar said that since there was shortage of teachers, teaching had suffered.

Since teachers have been promoted and guest teachers appointed, the problem has been resolved.

Primary School Teachers District Secretary K.B. Somegowda said that it was a moment of joy for the Primary School teachers who were awaiting their promotion since a long time after getting the due qualifications. In the last three years promotions had been stalled.

The DDPI with her move to promote the teachers has encouraged the deserving teaching community, he added.
