Weekend music concerts at Nadabrahma Sabha

Mysuru, Apr.26-Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha has organised three concerts during the weekend at its premises on JLB Road.

On Saturday, 28th April, two very unique concerts will be presented — Nadaswara by Rajesh and Party at 6 pm and  Clarinet by R. Mohan at 7.30 pm. Both instruments are rare nowadays on a concert platform.

Rajesh, a young Nadaswara Vidwan from Srirangapatna, is the son of Nadaswara Vidwan late P. Nagaraju. He had his initial training in Nadaswara under H.S. Swamy of Holenarasipura and subsequently intense training under Vid. K.N. Krishnamurthy. He has keenness to learn and adapt to the requirements of the audience. He has clean blow and control on the Vadya and immediately catches the attention of the listener. Today when Nadaswara is getting limited to marriages and temple Utsavas, Rajesh is a silverline for the concerts among available few. He has been performing at important platforms in Karnataka regularly.

R. Mohan hails from a musical family. His father and Guru D.Ramu, a well-known clarionet player, nurtured his interest in Music. He also learnt under M.V. Lakshminarasimhaiah, Srinivas and M. Nagaraju, popular Nadaswara Vidwan. He honed his music under great gurus like Prof. R.N. Doreswamy and H.K.Narasimha Murthy. An A grade artiste of Akashavani, he has performed in reputed Sabhas in and outside India. He has won a lot of appreciation for his good tonal quality playing and is employed by the Mysore Police Band. Mohan will be accompanied by Vid. C. N. Thyagarajan on violin, A. Radhesh on mridanga and V.S.Ramesh on ghata.

On Sunday, 29th April at 5.30 pm, Nada Kishora Madhu Kashyap will sing for M.H. Raja Rao Memorial concert, sponsored by Family and Friends of Raja Rao.

Hailing from a musical background, the quest for music for Madhu began with mridanga at an early age under the tutelage of his father Vidwan N.G.Ravi, a renowned mridanga artiste. Madhu’s interest in music diversified towards Karnatak classical vocal and has been trained under the tutelage of his mother Dr. Meenakshi Ravi, a veteran teacher and performer, and Sangeetha Kalaratna Vidushi Neela Ramgopal, a renowned name in the field.

Driven by his passion for pursuing music, Madhu recently bid  adieu to his professional career as an IT professional. Madhu is now on his own and a full-time musician. He has been a performing artiste for over a decade and has performed in well-known sabhas all over the country. Madhu’s uniqueness lies in the creative rendition of ragas, swara and absolute devotion. He is also a successful Jugalbandi artiste. He has been the recipient of several awards like Nada Kishora by Nadabrahma Sabha, Ananya Nadajyothi Pratibha Puraskara by Malleswaram Sangeetha Sabha, Bengaluru, The Best Concert Artiste Award  by Bangalore Gayana Samaja.

Madhu has a couple of albums released, to his credit. In this concert, Madhu will be accompanied by Vittal Rangan on violin, R. Adamya on mridanga and R. Karthik on khanjira.
