Mysuru: T. Narayana Shasthry Prathisthana, Panchamantra Road, Kuvempungar, has organised ‘Meet The Achievers’ programme from June 27 to July 1 at Ganesha Hall, Kuvempunagar, at 5.30 pm daily. The achievers to be featrured are as follows:
June 27 (Thursday): Achiever in Music – Vidwan T.R. Rangaswamy (Turuvekere), Classical Music Scholar. Topic: Music Voyage.
June 28 (Friday): Achiever in Yoga – Dr. Raghavendra Pai, Vedavyasa Yoga Prathisthanam, Mysuru. Topic: Royal Path of Yoga.
June 29 (Saturday): Achiever in Patriotism – T.N. Ramakrishna, Founder – Convener, Rashtra Gowrava Samrakshana Parishath, Bengaluru. Topic: Revolutionary Freedom Fighters.
June 30 (Sunday): T.N. Ramakrishna, Topic: Revolutionary Freedom Fighters of Karnataka.
July 1 (Monday): Kavyavachana & Vyakhyana (Kalidasa’s Raghuvamsha) by T.P. Subhashini, PG student in Commerce, BHU, Varanasi and T.P. Vachaspathi Narayana, UG student in Commerce, Basudeva Somani College, Mysuru.
Profile of Achievers
Vidwan T.r. rangaswamy hails from Turuvekere. He practiced Karnatak Classical Music under K.N. Visweshwara Bhagavath of Arasikere and M.K. Shrikantaiah of Mayasandra. He has composed 82 Keertans in Kannada, Sanskrit and Telugu. He is ‘B’ high grade artiste in AIR, Bengaluru. He is the recipient of awards like Karnataka Kalashree, Sangeetha Kalanidhi and many more.
Dr. Raghavendra Pai hails from Karkala (Udupi). Having a deep study in Pathanjali’s Yogashastra, Dr. Pai served as the Director of Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Yoga and Ethical Education Project for 18 years. He travelled across 10 States, 9 countries for the propagation of yoga. Recently he was felicitated at Vivekandha Institute for Youth Chicago for his outstanding contribution in his field. He is the Founder of Vedavyasa Yoga Foundation in Mysuru and propagating Yoga living, Yoga walk, Yoga vision.
T.N. Ramakrishna is the son of late T. Narayana Shashtry. Highly qualified in B.Com, MBA, LLB degrees, he chose banking sector to serve. He came out of his job in his early age of 42, to be a full-time volunteer to propagate the eternal message of the revolutionary freedom fighters of India whose names were unheard, unread, unsung. For this cause, he established Rashtra Gaurava Samrakshana Parishat.
As a Founder – Convener, he had written about 80 articles lectured at 300 schools and colleges in Karnataka and in 10 other States. Recently he had arranged a unique programme to celebrate the 75th anniversary of formation of Provisional Azad Hind Government by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose at Singapore. He lead a team of 50 persons to Singapore.
T.P. Subhashini is the grand- daughter of late T. Narayana Shasthry. She is a M.Com student at BHU, Varanasi. She is pursuing classical music studies for Vidwath under the guidance of Dr. R.N.Shrilatha. She is the student of Dr. M.S. Sanath Kumar of Mathoor, Sanskrit village in the fine art of Gamaka.
T.P. Vachaspathi Narayana is a grandson of late T. Narayana Shasthry. He is a B.Com student in Basudeva Somani College, Mysuru. He is the disciple of veteran violin master H.K. Narasimha Murthy. Vachaspathi is very much interested in listening to classical music singing and lectures on Indian tradition.
Birth Centenary Year
2019 is the birth centenary year of late T. Narayana Shashtry. To commemorate this occasion, many programmes like study circles, free health check-up camps, propagation of library and cultural values, mass awareness camps, kavyavachana-Vyakhyana, study tour etc., will be held at Mysuru, Bengaluru, Tumakuru, Turuvekere, Tiptur, Tarikere, Bhadravathi and Shivamogga. About T. Narayana Shasthry Prathisthana
T. Narayana Shasthry, who was well-known as TNS amongst his students, secured I Rank by scoring highest marks in Vyakarana Vidwath examination conducted by the Government at Maharaja’s Sanskritha College in Mysuru. He was a freedom fighter in the 1942 Quit India Movement and was also imprisoned.
Brought up in utter poverty, he came to Mysuru barefoot and without a penny in his pocket. By begging alms, he continued his studies for a few years. After his career, he was a teacher in High Schools at Turuvekere (Tumakuru District), Tarikere (Chikkamagalur) and Bhadravathi (Shivamogga) where he established four Sanskrit Schools. They housed students from all strata of society. He was often termed as Pusthaka Parivrajaka (Book Monk), as he used to sell, distribute, present books of cultural, national, social, spiritual values numbering about 12,000. These books are published by Bharatha Darshana, Adhyathma Prakasha, Kannada Sahithya Parishat, the leading publishers in the State of Karnataka. He was the Founder of ten voluntary organisations to train the youth in social service activities. In his memory, T. Narayana Shasthry Prathisthana is established.
