MLA S.R. Mahesh alleges Andhra CM’s hand in appointment of new Mysuru DC

September 29, 2020

Mysore/Mysuru: Slamming the State Government for shunting out Kannadiga IAS Officer B. Sharat barely a month after his appointment as Mysuru Deputy Commissioner, JD(S) MLA S.R. Mahesh claimed that the State Government has appointed Rohini Sindhuri as the new Mysuru DC at the behest of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister.

Addressing a press meet at his office near Ramavilas Road here this morning, Mahesh wanted to know whether it is B.S. Yediyurappa (Chief Minister) who rules the State or the Andhra CM.

Contending that the premature transfer of Sharat, who is also a Dalit, is an insult to Kannadigas, Mahesh said that it is pertinent to note here that the new DC Rohini had moved the Court three times in the past  against the State Government  questioning her transfer.

Accusing Rohini of irregularities in the spending of Rs.175 crore sanctioned for  Gommateshwara  Mahamast-abhisheka at Shravanabelagola when she was Hassan DC earlier, Mahesh said he wanted to know the intention behind the posting of Rohini Sindhuri as Mysuru DC when Dasara is just 18 days away.

Continuing, Mahesh said that Sharat was transferred on the day when his digital signature, which is mandatory for signing of bills and orders was authorised by the Government, which has given rise to several questions.

Wondering  when the digital signature of the new DC Rohini would get authorisation with Dasara just a few days away, Mahesh said the delay in digital signature was badly hurting  rural people the most as many  bills are awaiting DC’s clearance.

Charging the BJP Government of running a transfer mafia, the MLA said the Government had indulged in indiscreet transfers at a time when the State is reeling under COVID-19 and a crumbling economy.

Wanting to know whether District Minister S.T. Somashekar who held a meeting with Sharat on Dasara preparations only on Sunday was in the know of  Sharat’s transfer, the MLA said that although transfers are normal, the timing of Sharat’s transfer is suspicious and questionable.

He suggested Sharat to move the CAT seeking a stay on his abrupt and premature transfer.

City JD(S) President K.T. Cheluvegowda, former Mayor B.L. Bhyrappa, former Corporator K.V. Mallesh, Corporator Prema Shankaregowda, leaders Dwarakish, Shylendra and others were present during the press meet.

Maybe Mahesh can learn to put on a mask properly first…

  2. Sridhar says:

@Yash – In the true sense, unmasking of these people are needed! They want to keep the caste politics at the top! It is 70 years past independence yet, they are still milking this cow! Are Dalits so backsword that even after 7 decades of continuous congress rule with Dalit agenda since Nehru to Modi they are still left behind? or it it that they are intentionally left behind for their own selfish goals!

I agree with the criticism of the government by MLA Mahesh for the abrupt transfer of DC Sharath just after a month. But I disagree with his rationale. Why should he bring irrelevant and unconnected factors to criticize the government for the transfer. Is there a need for him to compare the background of the nee DC ? While we the people should be critical of frequent transfer of officers, we should not bring divisive issues. He is fully justified in bringing political element since most transfers are based on politics.

In the case of an IAS officer should we be influenced by what state one comes from? Should we concern with the religious or caste affiliation? We can then go from state to region of the state or district or mother tongues etc? Let us be broad mined not to bring in these divisive factors.

In fact Dr. Rohini Sindhuri herself has been transferred often for no reason. Also to allege corruption charges without any proof is rather sad. Full disclosure: Just like MLA Mahesh was critical of abrupt transfer of the DC Bharath, I was also critical of abrupt transfer of her after reading an article in Deccan Herald and started a movement to protest against it.

The IAS officer should be able to speak the language f the state, as he/she should be able t communicate even those who are not educted and cannot speak English. That is the criterion Tamil Nau uses, and Karnataka should do the same.

@Howdy Modi! What abuse you felt in my comment?Calling spade a spade is abuse them I am guilty! I was only criticizing a politician! Are you one too and got hurt?

There was big tussle between Revanna and this DC in Hassan. Since Mahesh is from JDS, naturally he is bringing up this issue. They are not seeing that cases are rising in Mysore, and this DC did not do anything to control. So govt might have appointed an able DC who can do things..

  8. Hare Krishna! says:

Patel after independence simply replaced the ICS cadre with the IAS cadre, despite Nehru ‘s objections. He wanted a new all India administrative service with a different model. Patel also gave CMs of states a say in the posting of these officers, Not surprised about Andhra CM’s interference. Mr Reddy the CM there is a darling of PM Modi. Yedi is just a useless dimwit,
This MLA should have approached Suttur Seer, who cares for Mysuru, and the Seer is more powerful than Yedi, and he has the ears of PM Modi .
Karnataka CMs have always been gutless, even with Congress administration in the state and centre. Tamil Nadu and Andhra CMs got away with their interference in Karnataka, I remember during those days of Kengal as the CM.
Irregularities? That is the name of the game in India, since independence! Kengal’s Vidhana Soudha had budget irregularities which ran into crores, and the enquiry was a white wash!
India is a country o massive irregularities! What is the surprise then?
