Mysore/Mysuru: ‘Palike Nade – Janatheya Kade’, a special drive launched by the MCC to collect tax from the doorstep of property owners, seems to have reaped much dividends for the cash-strapped civic body, as it recorded a whopping collection of Rs. 37.45 lakh on a single day on Monday.
MCC officials collected Rs. 37,45,124 from a total of 713 property owners coming under all the nine MCC Zonal Offices.
MCC Revenue Officer Kumar Nayak told Star of Mysore that MCC Zone-3 was the biggest revenue earner on Monday as it collected Rs.22,65,926 from 389 property owners, thus accounting for more than half of total revenue recorded yesterday.
Zone-1: Rs. 1,67,657 from 53 property owners; Zone-2: Rs. 2,32,781 from 54 property owners; Zone-3: Rs.22,65,926 from 389 property owners; Zone-4: Rs. 3,26,411 from 34 property owners; Zone-5: Rs. 3,31,952 from 79 property owners; Zone-6: Rs. 7,02,007 from 67 property owners; Zone-7: Rs.4,00,672 from 72 property owners; Zone-8: Rs.1,73,457 from 46 property owners; Zone-9: Rs.2,51,117 from 50 property owners.
Kumar Nayak further said that the MCC, in the period from Apr.1 to Oct.9, has collected Rs.75,34,59,911 from a total of 1,01,040 property owners.
Address civic issues of tax-payers: GTD
Meanwhile, Chamundeshwari MLA G.T. Devegowda (GTD)launched the tax collection drive at Dattagalli 3rd Stage coming under Ward 46.
Pointing out that with people voluntarily paying up taxes even during COVID-19 crisis it is the duty of the officials to address the civic issues raised by them, he said that MUDA has carried out several developmental works in Dattagalli area.
He further said that the Government has released a grant of Rs. 2.70 crore for construction of a water tank at Dattagalli.
The construction of a Basket Ball Court is going on at Dattagalli 3rd Stage and the process for construction of a Shuttle Court too is underway, the MLA added.
MCC Commissioner Gurudatta Hegde, Corporator Lakshmi Kiran, MCC Zone-3 Assistant Commissioner T.S. Satyamurthy, MUDA Officer Kiran and other officials were present.
