Hard Disk crash leads to delay in issuance of birth and death certificates by MCC

June 2, 2017

Mysuru: The Hard Disk crash at the MCC’s Birth/Death Certificates Section has led to the delay in the issuance at birth /death certificates, thus severely inconveniencing the public.

The problem is even more serious as school admissions have began and parents are visiting the MCC Office everyday for getting birth certificates of their wards.

The Hard Disk, installed by a Delhi-based company crashed due to technical snag over a month ago and the problem has persisted since then. In the absence of Hard Disk the MCC authorities  are issuing hand-written birth/death certificates in lieu of printed ones.

Speaking to SOM this morning, MCC Commissioner G. Jagadeesha said that the Computer Hard Disk at the section was installed by a Delhi-based company a few years ago. But the disk crashed due to a technical snag, about a month ago, following which the MCC has written to the Delhi-based company to replace it.

The new Hard Disk is expected to arrive in city in about three days and the computer system will be back on track in a week.

The MCC has been issuing the birth/ death certificates in writing,  which is as valid as the printed ones and can be used wherever necessary.

Also, those who have already been issued the hand-written certificates, can seek printed ones, once the new hard disk is installed and the Computer System begins working, Jagadeesha said and added that the MCC was doing its best to avoid causing inconvenience to the people.
