Bengaluru: Vehemently condemning the Tamil Nadu Assembly resolution against the Mekedatu project, Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai on Tuesday alleged that the neighbouring State has been using the Cauvery water dispute as a political tool to score brownie points. “The resolution passed by the Tamil Nadu Assembly is illegal and it is merely being used to score political points. It is nothing but a political stunt. Such resolutions have been passed in the past that do not have any value,” he told reporters here.
Despite the Cauvery tribunal giving its final award and setting up of a Cauvery Water Monitoring Board, TN has been opposing the Mekedatu project, which only aims to utilise water allocated to Karnataka, Bommai said. TN also has moved the Supreme Court challenging National Green Tribunal ruling in favour of Karnataka, he said. “Despite the Tamil Nadu Assembly’s decision, Karnataka will continue to take all steps to implement the Mekedatu project,” Bommai added. Tamil Nadu should not oppose Mekedatu project as it aims to utilise the excess Cauvery water flowing to the sea for solving drinking water problems of Bengaluru, he argued. Karnataka is awaiting the Union Environmental Ministry’s approval for the Detailed Project Report (DPR) to take up Mekedatu project, Bommai said, adding that it will go ahead with it based on the unanimous decision arrived at the all-party leaders meeting.
Reacting to Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut’s demand for a film on Belagavi Files depicting “atrocities” in the border district of Belagavi, Bommai said this is a political ploy to divert the problems afflicting the Maharashtra Government. The fact is that Solapur, Akkalkot and other Kannada-speaking areas are still with Maharashtra, which should be included in Karnataka as per Mahajan Commission Report, he said. “There is no meaning in raising border issues again and again,” he noted.
This fool is a weak CM as perceived by the BJP’s Central High Command. No wonder, the BJP central leadership wants to replace him with Shoba Karandlaje, the darling of the old man Yediyurappa! She as PM Modi’s one of his women, , will listen to whatever he says, even to the extent of cancelling this Meke Datu project.
While this moustached fool is waiting to meet PM Modi, M K Stalin , the DMK CM of Tamil Nadu goes to see Modi before him, as Modi is more receptive to Tamil Nadu needs than those of Karnataka.
While the Rajya Sabha MP from Karnataka, the FM Mrs Sitharaman ,prattles about her links to Karnataka-a cynical attitude, in reality, , she as a Tamilianm with extensive cultural links with that state-having born and brought up there, is more inclined to support Tamil Nadu. She knows idiotic dimwiited Karnataka people will be happy with a flimsy gift of star-gazing small planetarium at the foot of Chamundi Hill.
This moustached fool’s outbursts about Belgavi, shows what a folly it was to have had Karnataka Ekikarana, bringing in those regions of Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra, and thus permanently establishing a large swathe of Lingayat MLAs from those dry and arid regions, who ensured through their navel-gazing attitude that Karnataka lost out evey time. Nijalingappa, Jatti, and Veerendra Patil, the Lingayat CMs, were no match for Tamil Nadu CMs.
Now Shiv Sena demands the return of Belgavi. I wouldgive it to them to get rid of this alien arid region.
I would if I were the CM give them back the entire regions of former Maharashra which joined under Ekikarana to form Karnataka. It was a great folly to include them in 1950s
The Old Mysore state was great and rich . Thrived then. .
The song:” Udaya Vagali Namma Cheluva Kannada Nadu” sounded well when P Kalinga Rao sung, which I listened in my boyhood, never realising that this ” Cheluva Kannada Nadu” was going to be ruled by a bunch of Lingayat misfits as the CMs, who whether as Congress CMs with the Centre ruled by Congress or the BJP CMs with the Central ruled by the BJP have had very little influence, while Tamil Nadu wrung out concessions and gifts every time from the Centre.
What an idiot this garlic -munching CM is!
The Tamil Nadu assembly and the CM MK Stalin are not scoring brownie points, but are giving notice to PM Modi that they are very serious about cancelling the Meke Datu project. Modi is desperate to get a foothold in Tamil Nadu. He even went to see M Karunanidhi, when he was ill, inviting him to stay with him in New Delhi while gets treatment at the AIIMS, and later when Karunanidhi passed away, he and the the president Kovind visited Chennai to give respects to the mortal remains of Karunanidhi and stayed there untilhe was buried. Nothing like this happene d in India, when a PM did all the above to a former CM of an opposition Party which supported the Congress Government and still supports Sonia and Rahul Gandhi.
This idiot, a dim witted CM does not grasp the complex political dynamics involved here.
As for Shin Sena, I am sure living in Maharashtra, the Maharashtra government will get successful in wrenching a good number of Marathi-speaking areas such as in Belgavi district. The MES has strong links to Maharashtra government. Modi will have to listen to them, as Maharashtra is a very powerful Indian state with Mumbai as its capital, the economic power house of India.
