CAR team emerges champions in City Police Annual Sports Meet

City Armed Reserve (CAR) Police team has emerged as champions at the five-day Mysuru City Police Annual Sports Meet, which was held at the CAR Parade Grounds in city.

Teams from CAR, Narasimharaja (NR), Krishnaraja (KR), Devaraja, Traffic Police Division, Special Unit, Women Police Unit and Karnataka Armed Reserve Police (KARP) Mounted Unit participated in the sports meet.

Vijayashankar of CAR and K.P. Usha of Hebbal Police Station bagged the Best Award for the sixth time continuously in the Men and Women’s categories.

Winners

100 mts race (Men): Vijayashankar of CAR (1st prize), Mylari of K.R. Sub-Division (2nd prize) and Praveen of Devaraja Sub-Division (3rd prize).

Tug-of-war (Men): CAR team (1st prize) and Traffic Division team (2nd prize).

Women: Devaraja Sub-Division team (1st prize) and N.R. Sub-Division team (2nd prize).

Volleyball and Kabbadi: CAR team (Winners) and Special Unit (Runners up).

123 Police family members given jobs

Delivering the valedictory address after distributing prizes to the winners, Regional Commissioner of Mysuru Dr. G.C. Prakash said that from the day he took charge as the Mysuru Division Regional Commissioner, a total of 123 members of Police families, whose family members (serving in the Police Department) had died of COVID and other reasons, have been given jobs.

Pointing out that education was very important for providing jobs, he said that it is painful to give D-Group jobs and hence it is important to study and be graduates. “One can study and obtain degree at home through Open University,” he advised.

“The annual Police sports meet provides happiness for two to three days to Police personnel, who are always working under pressure. I have participated as a guest for more than five such events and seeing Police personnel in a relaxed mood is special,” the Regional Commissioner said and thanked all those who took part in the sports meet.

City Police Commissioner B. Ramesh, DCPs Pradeep Gunti, M.S. Geetha Prasanna and CAR DCP Shivaraju and others were present at the valedictory.
