Mysuru: With Rs. 320 crore already released and disbursed for land acquisition required for the expansion of Mysore Airport, Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha has directed officials to expedite the process of handing over 160 acres of land — to the Airports Authority of India — acquired as against 240 acres of land earmarked for the acquisition.
He was chairing a meeting of officials at Jaladarshini Guest House this morning with representatives from the Airports Authority of India (AAI), Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB), Karnataka State Small Industries Development Corporation (KSSIDC) Limited, Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC), Department of Minor Irrigation, Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) and Department of Horticulture.
“Earlier, of the total 240 acres of land (all falling under various survey numbers of Marase village, Mysuru taluk) identified for expansion works, a total 160 acres of land have been acquired with the Rs. 150 crore released by the State Government. The land is in the possession of the Development Section at KIADB which has to be handed over to the AAI, to facilitate the expansion works as per the Detailed Project Report (DPR),” the MP said.
“To acquire the remaining 80 acres of land and get funds released, officials should prepare a proposal. I will speak to the authorities concerned,” he assured.
The expansion works include the extension of the runway width and length to facilitate the operation of bigger planes in the future.
The remaining expanse of land, yet to be acquired, will be used to divert the Mysuru-Nanjangud Highway up to one kilometre to facilitate the runway extension. This is because the alignment of the runway and the Highway bisect each other.
Earlier, a 500-metre to 600-metre-long underpass was proposed on Mysuru-Nanjangud Highway and NHAI was to take up the project at a cost of Rs. 700 crore. Now the underpass idea has been dropped and instead, a part of the Highway (up to one kilometre) will be diverted near Marase after the land acquisition. As the land includes various plantations and is riddled with legal disputes, the Horticulture Department has been involved to fix the compensation for plantations. Mysore Airport Director R. Manjunath, KIADB Special Land Acquisition Officer V. Priyadarshini, KIADB Development Officer Murthy and others attended the meeting.
While building a New Terminal Building after expansion to accommodate bigger flights ,do plan to add ICAO code F gates which are at present available only at Delhi ,mumbai, bengaluru and Hyderabad which is required to land the giant A380 Planes. India can play a role in revival of these giant planes , as we have limited number of landing slots during peak hours as more and more people travel by air in India these planes can land with nearly 500 people for each landing slot. The minimum certified runway width for a A380 is 45 Metres and needs a length of 3000Metres so do plan for the future now that highway is going to be diverted and more land is going to be acquired do consider these into consideration.
Also we had a power outage last time and flight was diverted to another city instead buy the S4GA Portable airfield lighting and these can be used in case of a power outage.
Hello Sanjay Kini
The facilities for landing the airbus A 380 at the Mysore Airport was the subject of discussion in the UAE , when Narendra |Modi, while returning from the observer’s status in the G7 meeting at Munich last year, met with a selected bunch of Keralite businessmen in Abu Dhabi. These rich businessmen asked him to approve direct non-stop flights from Abu Dhabi to Mysore every day, in return assured him more investments in Mysore and the region.
A core of these Keralite businessmen run a chain of gold smugglers to Kerala using the 4 airports there, to smuggle gold into Kerala, which is alosu finding its way into Mysore city through the Wayanad-Nanjangud-Mysore Road. That explains, why a couple of years ago, armed robbers raided a jewellery shop in Mysore, whose owner was receiving the smuggled gold ingots, but was owned money to the above Keralite businessmen, whom sent this gang to collect the jewels made from smuggled gold. Although the then Police Commissioner boasted that he caught the gang of robbers, the leader escaped, and is planning to head the new army of gold distributors to Mysore. To expand their businesses which also include the Hawaala money operations, the above Keralite businessmen prefer the large A 380 aircraft .
Given the MMysore-Bangalore Highway operational now, more Highways planned, the above Keralite businessmen have set in motion their base in Mysore city, acquiring warehouses and buildings. A fleet of Audis, BMWs, and Mercs are already in position in these warehouses, to put in motion the expansion of gold distribution and Hawaala money operations along the Mysore-Bangalore in places like Mandya, Maddur and eventually to Bangalore. They are sure that they will keep in place the customs officers who they trust at the Mysore airport. They also know that the weakness of the top Mysore Police officials in respect of finding additional income for themselves.
Devaru Simha Sir…. How about our Hunsur development.. Do something for our place too.. like building some medical or engineering college or something that will have more identity to the town.. whatever that can help our students or people to find jobs etc
