District-level Government Employees Sports Meet

Mysore/Mysuru: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr. K.V. Rajendra said: “Sports helps Officers who work for 365 days in a year in developing a better mindset by overcoming job-related stress.” He was speaking during the inauguration of two-day District-level Government Employees Sports Meet, organised by Mysuru District Government Employees Association, Zilla Panchayat (ZP) and Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports (DYES), at Chamundi Vihar Stadium in the city on Tuesday.

“Sports provides a better opportunity for the Officers to show their talent along with sportsmanship which reflects their style of working. Even amid Lok Sabha elections-related duties, the Sports Meet has been organised in available time. It is expected to inspire the Officers to discharge election duties in a more spirited manner,” added DC.

Of late, health-related issues are on the rise and hence it is important for the Officers to focus on keeping their personal health, apart from handling duties. While the sports helps in working like a team developing the ability to face any difficult situations, he said.

Moreover there is a myth in circulation that those hitting gymnasium daily are dying in large numbers. One should come out of such a false mindset and instead focus on maintaining their fitness, advised Dr. Rajendra.

MLC C.N. Manjegowda said: “With the Government employees entrusted with multiple duties, they are facing intense pressure at work place. It can be addressed by filling up the vacant Government posts.”

If one has to stay healthy, he or she has to do yogasana, walking and take part in sporting activities. Sports is beyond caste and community barriers, which is less preferred by the children of bureaucrats. While those from rural areas are contributing to sports in big numbers, with some among them having made a mark in international Sports Meets too, said Manjegowda.
