CM terms BJP’s Dharmasthala Yatra as a ‘Political Yatra’

September 1, 2025

Mysuru: Terming the opposition BJP’s Dharmasthala Yatra as a purely political one, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that the BJP is free to hold such Yatras, but it cannot derive any political mileage out of this.

Speaking to presspersons at his native village Siddaramanahundi in the Taluk here this morning, he wondered why the BJP did not take out a Yatra when the State Government formed the SIT to probe alleged ‘mass burials’ of unidentified bodies in the surroundings of Dharmasthala.

Commenting on the BJP’s plan of taking out Chamundi Hill Yatra, Siddaramaiah said that the BJP has been holding such Yatras believing that its Hindutva propaganda would gain momentum. However, such actions of the BJP will not help it anyway, he maintained.

“I am also a Hindu. As a Hindu, I have built a Ram Mandir in my native village. Those who have humanity are real Hindus. Those who are liars and have disregard for humanity are not Hindus. Now the BJP is playing its brand of politics during Dasara too. BJP does not no anything else other than spreading lies and disturbing social harmony,” he asserted.

Replying to a question on Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar’s recent statement that the Chamundeshwari Hill temple does not belong to Hindus, the CM, in his first public reaction, said that he was not aware of what exactly his Deputy had said. “Though Chamundi Hill temple may belong to Hindus, the matter that is now being discussed among the public is Dasara celebrations and not that concerned with Chamundi Hill temple,” he said adding that Dasara is a Nada Habba which is inclusive of all.
