The Department of Studies in Botany of the University of Mysore (UoM) has organised a workshop titled ‘Raitharondige Ondu Dina’ (A day with farmers) with the theme ‘Krushiyalli Staliya mattu Utkrushta Bijagala Mahatwa’ on Mar. 14 at Linnaeus Hall in Manasagangothri campus in city.
The workshop will be inaugurated at 10.30 am. Kerala Forest Research Institute retired Scientist Dr. U.M. Chandrasekhara will be the chief guest while UoM Registrar (Administration) V.R. Shylaja will preside. UoM Department of Studies in Botany Chairman Prof. K.N. Amruthesh and Department staff Prof. G.R. Janardhan will be present on the occasion.
The day-long programme will feature special lectures by resource persons.
11 am to 12.15 pm: Dr. U.M. Chandrasekhara will speak on the topic ‘Krushiyalli Bijagala Mahatwa.’
12.30 pm to 1.30 pm: University of Horticultural Sciences, Bagalkot, Professor Dr. Vishnuvardhan will speak on ‘Krushiyalli Staliya mattu Sankara Bijagala Mahatwa.’
2.30 pm to 3.30 pm: University for Agricultural Sciences, Raichur, Department of Seed Science and Technology Professor Dr. M.N. Shakuntala will speak on ‘Bija Utkrushtate mattu Tapasane;
3.45 pm to 4.45 pm: Zonal Agricultural Research Station, VC Farm, Mandya, Professor Dr. V.B. Sanath Kumar will speak on ‘Bija rogagala hatoti mattu Bijopachara.’
After the lecture sessions, there will be a 15-minute interaction programme with the farmers between 4.45 pm and 5 pm.
