A rare musical tribute to a mother

Mysuru: A unique and meaningful musical tribute was organised by Prof. N. Usha Rani, former Professor of Journalism, University of Mysore and her sister N. Nagarathna in memory of their late mother, B.A. Soumyanayaki, who passed away recently.

The programme was inaugurated by Prof. Padma Shekhar, former Vice-Chancellor, Sanskrit University, along with Prof. R. Indira, Professor of Eminence, M.S. Ramaiah University and  Ishwar Daitota, senior journalist, in city recently.

In her inaugural address, Prof. Padma Shekar called upon the present generation to understand the value of love for parents, harmony and family bonding. It is love in the family and love for life that can take us forward, she said. She also pointed out that she has been happily married for the past 47 years because love is the binding factor.

On this occasion, Prof. Indira said that today the youths lack emotional connectivity to their surroundings in the educational institutions posing serious challenges to their parents. If the purpose of life is to lead a good, meaningful life, then emotions are crucial. Unfortunately, students feel disconnected from their college environment, she rued.

Senior journalists Ishwar Daitota, Amshi Prasanna Kumar, Kudli Gururaj, many Professors from the University of Mysore and other well-wishers were present on the occasion.
