Aadhaar enrolment camps at schools

Mysuru students from first to 10th standard in Government, aided, private schools can register

Mysuru: Students across Mysuru no longer need to run from pillar to post for Aadhaar cards, as the State Government has begun organising camps directly at the school premises.

Over the past four weeks, the Department of Public Instruction has been conducting Aadhaar enrolment drives in Government, aided and private schools for students from first to 10th standard.

Col. (Retd.) N.G. Krishna Prasad, Centre Manager of Aadhaar Seva Kendra, Mysuru, stated that a recent circular from the Commissioner of the School Education Department, Bengaluru, directed schools to hold Aadhaar camps for updating student Aadhaar cards.

In response, Aadhaar Seva Kendra Mysuru has been organising camps in schools, following schedules provided by the respective Block Education Officers (BEOs).

Parents and teachers can update students’ Aadhaar cards by paying a fee: Rs. 100 for biometric updates, Rs. 50 for name corrections to match school records and Rs. 100 for both updates.

Mysuru DDPI Javaregowda told Star of Mysore this morning that these Aadhaar enrolment camps have been running for the past month and a half. “The BEOs have prepared a list of schools where the camps are being held and parents can contact school authorities to confirm the camp dates,” he said.

At these camps, students who enrol for Aadhaar updates will receive acknowledgements and can expect their updated Aadhaar cards within two weeks. This initiative has brought relief to parents and teachers, as  they no longer need to travel elsewhere for the updates, officials noted.
