Belagavi: Dr. Munjandira R. Chengappa, senior technologist and IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) leader known for his work in sustainability and inclusive innovation, has been appointed to the 9th Academic Senate of Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU).

 The appointment was notified by the Karnataka Governor’s Secretariat on June 25, 2025, and communicated by the VTU Vice-Chancellor.

 With over 20 years of experience in telecommunications and IT, Dr. Chengappa has contributed to virtualised and open radio networks, next-generation wireless technologies, AI-driven network intelligence and energy-efficient digital infrastructure.

He also works in emerging areas such as Generative AI, Non-Terrestrial Networks, and edge intelligence, and advocates for technology standardisation.

 As Vice-Chair of IEEE Bangalore Section and Technical Lead for IEEE MOVE Outreach India, Dr. Chengappa has led humanitarian and sustainability projects in renewable energy, disaster response and digital equity, bridging industry and academia.
